USCIS Issued the Temporary Waiver of I-693 Civil Surgeon 60-day Signature

**NEW Update on March 2023: USCIS Removed 60-Day Rule for Civil Surgeon Signatures on Form I-693!

Now you can relax a little bit... USCIS is temporarily waiving the requirement of Civil Surgeon 60-day signature rule!

USCIS Issued the Temporary Waiver of I-693 Civil Surgeon 60-day Signature

USCIS Issued the Temporary Waiver of Civil Surgeon 60-day Signature

What has changed?

Normally, it is required that the civil surgeon sign your Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, within a 60 day period before the Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust status is filed.

Now USCIS is temporarily relaxing this requirement due to COVID-19 impacts. This should help ease the application processing delays!

So even if your civil surgeon signed your Form I-693 more than 60 days prior it's still valid! You will not need to undergo another immigration medical exam if Form I-693 is otherwise valid.

How long will the waiver be in effect?

This temporary waiver has been in effect since Dec. 9, 2021, and will remain in effect until March 31, 2023.
