Did you hear this? USCIS is going to start requiring all Green Card applicants to provide evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 soon! Let's hear more details:
COVID-19 Vaccine Record Will be Required for all Green Card Applicants
When will USCIS start requiring COVID-19 Vaccine record?
Starting from October 1st, 2021, immigrants to the US will be required to provide COVID-19 vaccination proof as part of the adjustment of status application.
Currently, all Green Card applicants are required to do medical exam with a US Civil Surgeon and submit Form I-693 Medical Examination and Vaccination Record. Click here to see a full list of vaccines that are currently required.
What if my Green Card application is still pending?
People with a pending Adjustment of Status (AOS) application and included a medical with their application can expect to receive a Request for Evidence (RFE) for a new medical exam. Applicants will need to submit back with a written evidence that the applicant has been vaccinated against COVID-19.
For new applications after October 1st, 2021, the civil surgeon will record administration of the COVID-19 vaccine on the new medical exam form I-693.
What if I live abroad where there's no COVID-19 vaccine available?
For this group of people, your civil surgeon may use a blanket waiver for the COVID-19 vaccine requirement.
If you are not getting the vaccine due to other reasons such as religious or moral objection, you may also request a waiver of the vaccine requirement but the waivers are adjudicated by USCIS on a case by case basis.
