Planning on applying for an employment authorization? USCIS is about to make some changes!
Effective August 25th, 2020, applicants for an initial or renewal employment authorization document (EAD) under (c)(8) edibility category must:
- Submit biometrics with correct service fee.
- Answer and complete new questions with a new form
Important Note: On or after August 25th, 2020, USCIS will no longer accept employment authorization applications with an outdated edition of Form I-765 and I-765WS.

USCIS Modifies Form I-765 Employment Authorization Effective August 25th
The current edition of Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization (EAD) is dated 12/26/2019; the updated edition will be applied from 8/25/2020.
- Applications postmarked before August 25, 2020, USCIS will continue to accept the 2019 edition
- Applications postmarked on or after August 25, 2020, USCIS will not accept the old version. You need to use the updated 2020 version.
Note that if your application is postmarked before August 25th, 2020, USCIS WILL NOT accept the new 2020 version. So make sure you use the exact version required. Read more details here!
