5 DIY Easy Games to Entertain Your Toddler in the House

I have been looking for creative ways to keep my one-year-old entertained in the house so he is not bored and I get to have a little of me-time. Especially during this virus restriction time, many kids are asked to stay indoor and out of playgrounds to be safe.

I love quick and simple activities (all moms are busy!) that not just only entertain my baby but also help him learn new things. Check out some of the fun games we have done so far. Here we go:

#1 Dancing Peas - Prep time: Under 2 mins

What you'll need:
  • A freezer bag
  • Duct tape
  • Blue tape
  • Frozen peas
  • Water
Fill your freezer bag with a third of water and some frozen peas and seal the bag with duct tape. Make sure it doesn't have too much air in it and seal it completely so it doesn't leak! Now use your blue tape to tape this bag down flat on the floor and ask your kids to touch it or dance on it. The peas would move quickly as if they were dancing when being touched on!

#2 Sticky Monster - Prep time: Under 10 mins

What you'll need:
  • A flat surface - I used a door
  • Transparent tapes
  • A paper
  • Markers
You can be creative for this project. First you need to find a flat surface for this game and then create a monster or any creature/animals you want on a paper. Now tape backwards on your paper with sticky tapes so the top layer is sticky.
- Top layer is the stick side
- Second layer is the monster paper you created

Now stick the whole paper on your flat surface and ask your kids to point out hands, eyes, mouth, etc. It's so fun to see them giggle when their hands got stuck on the board for a second. You can also add some extra eyes or anything you want to let them stick to the board to have even more fun!

#3 Roll the Ball - Prep time: Under 10 mins

What you'll need:
  • Cardboard box or any board
  • Some toilet paper rolls
  • Glue or tapes
  • A small ball
This is super easy to make! Cut your toilet paper rolls into half and glue or tape them to a board or cardboard box. Set the angle right so the ball can roll from top to the end. It's that simple!

#4 Insert The Coins - Prep time: Under 30 mins

What you'll need:
  • Milk cartons
  • An art knife or scissors
  • Printer
  • Transparent plastic shield
I found this idea through this website and followed its directions. It has the printable files you can download the print easily. It take a little bit longer time to make but I am sure your baby will have so much fun with it!

#5 Toss the Balls - Prep time: Under 2 mins

What you'll need:
  • A cardboard box
  • An art knife or scissors
  • Markers with a variety of colors
  • A few identical small balls with a variety of colors
Direction: Put one of the balls on the carboard box and trace out a circle. Cut the circle out and repeat for as many as possible (depends on how much space you have on the box). Once you have the holes done, color them into different colors on the outside. That's it! Ask your baby to toss the balls into a matching color hole.

Do you like these ideas? How do you keep your toddlers entertained in your house? I would love to hear your fun ideas!
