Did you know that USCIS will no longer accept written requests to reschedule your biometric appointment at the support centers? USCIS's biometrics processing unit in Alexandria has been cloased and they will not accept mail requests for these rescheduling anymore.
Why? This is one of the measures USCIS took to hopefully reduce the amount of paperwork they are dealing with now so that they can be more efficient.
How to Reschedule a Biometric Service Appointment
If for some reason you can't make it to the biometric services appointment that USCIS set for you, you should call USCIS's contact center at 800-375-5283 before the date and time of the originally scheduled appointment and be prepared to explain why you need to reschedule it.
What Happens If I Don't Show Up on the Appointment and Didn't Reschedule in Time?
No so good! USCIS may consider your application or petition abandoned and there's a high chance that your case can be denied for this reason. So definitely don't ignore your scheduled appointment!
