Breaking News: ICE Rescind Barring International Students From Taking Online Courses In The U.S.

Great news to many international students! The Trump administration announced yesterday that they will rescind a directive that would have barred international students from taking entire online courses in the US during COVID-19.
ICE Rescind Barring International Students From Online Courses In The U.S.

The Original Online Courses Rule Change

Last week, ICE released the rule change to prohibit international students from remaining in the US to take entire online courses in the full semester. For students who attend colleges or universities that offer online-only classes had to transfer schools or staying outside the US to take the online courses. Learn more details about the original rule here.

This rule reverse might be a result from the lawsuits from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology after the rule announcement.

We are very glad to hear that the Trump administration agreed the rescind the rule! Although I am surprised how fast a rule can change, it is a huge relief to many schools and students. Are you one of the groups that were affected by the rule change? What are your thoughts?
